Online Grades
Class Information
Listed below are the rules and policies of the classroom and general information about science on Team 7B.
Late Homework Policy
It is my policy not to mark down students who turn work in late. However, if you do not do your homework or if you turn in an incomplete assignment you will be sent to the Homework Assistance Program to finish the assignment. A zero will be recorded in the grade book until the assignment is turned in. Then, the zero is replaced by the full value of the grade earned.

Make-up Work and Corrections
Students who need to make up work due to an excused absence can do so by scheduling a time with Mr. Ower. He is available during lunch and after school most days from 3:00-4:00pm.
Students who want to make corrections to any assignment may do so provided that:
a. All corrections are done on a separate sheet of paper, and
b. Corrections on a separate sheet are stapled to the original
However, please note that any work submitted through Schoology may be corrected through Schoology.
Corrections are done at a student's discretion and will not be asked for by Mr. Ower. Students should take advantage of this opportunity to improve their understanding. Some assignments will not have correction opportunities and that will be explained to students prior to being given the assignment. Tests, quizzes, and other assessments cannot be corrected. However, some situations will warrant the "bending" of these rules.
What is Graded?
- Reflections: homework that is correctable. Worth 60% of your grade.
- Assessments: quizzes, tests, and projects. Worth 30% of your grade.
- Other: exit slips, binder checks, etc. Worth 10% of your grade.
The reason for weighting the grades is due to how the curriculum is structured. Our curriculum is divided into 4 units. Each unit only has one or two assessments. Therefore, these assessments cover a large amount of information and concepts. By having students complete more frequent reflections, allowing corrections, and by weighting the reflections higher, students can build a solid grade foundation before taking an assessment. Thus, if the student does poorly on an assessment, it will not impact their overall grade as much. In addition to this, assessments tend to have many more points. Weighting the assessments less makes the assessments less impactful on the overall grade.
